Waiting For Little Clues To Appear

“Leave… me alone. I won’t pick… up the phone. And I won’t… listen to… messages. Sent by some…one who calls… up and says, ‘I don’t like… how you’re li…ving my life. Get yourself a wife. Get yourself a job. You’re living a dream. Don’t you be a slob.’”

— Slob, Maladroit, Weezer

(My first album purchase from the iTunes Music Store. iTMS Link.)

[Also, Rachelle and I got music sharing working across networks using this excellent tip.]

nice. if it’s gonna be something - weezer is a good way to start. i thought to be appropriate i should buy some clash, or bob dylan or something, but maybe just a one track will gimme the fix i need.

Scott Yager

I haven’t heard that new Weezer album…is it similar to the green one?

Nick Runco

no - it’s better. the green album wasn’t my favorite - i thought it was an improvement. although, it’s no white stripes.

Scott Yager

An improvement over the green album…I should hope so. In that case, maybe I’ll check it out.

Nick Runco

you can always preview it with iTunes 4 or have walt share his collection (or mine) over the network…. :)

Rachelle Bowden

i like the green album the least, i think. although i havent heard Maladroit in its entirety.

Rachelle Bowden

oh, and walt’s purchased Maladroit songs were prompting me for a password when i tried to listen to them over the network.. so we’ll need you, nick, to rip them for us :) actually, arent they all on the weezer site?

Walt Dickinson

The green album ruled.

One thing that Rachelle and I discovered was that you can’t share your Music Store-purchased music over Rendezvous due to the DRM scheme unless you authorize the Mac that’s going to be listening and of course you can only authorize three Macs at a time.

But mp3s share nicely. It’s a great way of introducing someone to a bit of music they might not have heard before without actually sending them the file. And the preview feature rules.

Scott Yager

I was pretty down on Weezer after the green album so I never really felt the need to hear Maladroit. I heard a couple songs (from weezer.com, I think) and they were OK. If I want to listen to Weezer I generally just throw on Pinkerton.

Walt Dickinson

Scott: What’re you listening to these days?

Rachelle Bowden

i love pinkerton, but you cant beat the blue album ( feel like we’ve had this dicussion on iwalt before - walt, you need to implement that search functionality)

Scott Yager

Rachelle: Pinkerton rules all and nobody will ever convince me otherwise.

Walt: Not a lot, actually. I haven’t really been impressed by anything these days.

Nick Runco

pinkerton has a special place in my heart. i think rivers seriously reverted after that album. and i also think that matt sharp, the bassist made a difference.

oh, well - i dig the stripes. o baby, i love me my white stripes. anybody that can bust out blues like Ball and Buscuit. i have that song shared, if anyone can tell me how you link to it.

Walt Dickinson

Nick: There’s a link in this very weblog entry to a hint which will explain how to do it.
