The Apple Store San Francisco

Snapping photos at the grand opening of the San Francisco Apple Store.

I woke up in North Beach at 6:20 a.m. this morning and wondered why my alarm wasn’t going off. Thirty seconds later I was jabbing my sleeping brother and saying, “Let’s do this thing!” We stumbled out of the building and all the way down Stockton Street. The line already ran up Stockton to O’Farrell, then turned and ran the entire length of that block as well, to Powell. That’s where we got in line at 7 a.m. We got into the store a scant four hours later and narrowly missed the opportunity to purchase one of the mystery bags. Which sucks but I have to say that camping out all night was not something I was prepared to do. So we’re going to geek out for a bit longer before heading out. Whoo-hoo!

[The Mystery Bags: The people we spoke to who were able to purchase them all got something different. Items included Wireless Keyboards, Wireless Mice, AirPort Extreme Base Stations, 40GB iPods, and so forth. We probably would have been able to score a bag if people hadn’t held places in line for their friends who showed up at the last minute. Oh well, at least we got some T-shirts.] =-)
