Preview Playlists

Preview playlists in iTunes 4.5.

One of the less-mentioned features of iTunes 4.5 is the ability to make “local” playlists of Music Store previews. Simply create a playlist and drag tunes from the store onto it. It’s not the “wishlist” feature I was hoping for (and, frankly, amazed that Apple didn’t include in this release) but it’s pretty nice to finally be able to bookmark stuff I might want to buy.

Also, the hack of the day is:

defaults write com.apple.iTunes invertStoreLinks -bool YES

Dig it.

Thanks for mentioning this — it has been driving me bananas not to have a wishlist for iTunes.

I do find it surprising that store-side wishlists haven’t been a higher priority for Apple. I would occasionally blow a buck on a friend to buy them a song.

I’ve been hearing really good things about Panther from just about everybody. I was impressed that Apple took the time to go all the way down to the Unicode for so many OS’s and finally get them to talk to one another on the most user-friendly platform to date, although I still like Xwin. A colleague of mine at White Sands is zealously hellbent on trying to get Filemaker Pro to interact with win2000 at work..and then teach the rest of us about it with a bulging red eyeball.

My condolences on the loss of Bowski, Walt. I hope everything else is going well for you, and congratulations on the marraige! Nice site, too.

Thanks Matt. I’m an Apple zealot so Mac OS X is a particularly welcome development.
