Surplus Taxes

Ion, the Dickinson family cat.

Earlier this year, the Golden Gate Bridge sent me a friendly letter to let me know that I’d driven through the toll station without paying. Since I did pay the toll I wrote them back and asked that they produce evidence and stated that I would challenge their accusation if necessary.

A few weeks later the State of California wrote to let me know that I didn’t pay my 2003 state taxes. Since I did pay my state taxes I contacted my bank to get a copy of the check, then wrote them back to let them know that I had in fact paid and here’s the proof.

Then on the way up to Santa Rosa a couple weeks ago I got a speeding ticket. For doing 70. On a four lane highway. In light traffic. Because Highway 101 is limited to 55 mph for a ways around San Rafael. $114. VC 22350. I wasn’t even changing lanes.

Jessyca and Mitch’s Wedding

Jessyca and Mitch perform a post-ceremonial hooray during their rehersal.

Our college friends Jessyca and Mitch were married on the 21st of May. We were there to celebrate with them, Tabitha as a bridesmaid, I as a sort of third-class photographer. They were good enough to have their wedding less than 15 minutes away from our apartment and we spent pretty much the entire weekend participating in rehearsal ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, actual ceremonies, actual dinners, post actual-dinner hooplas, and following-morning brunches. We had a fantastic time and were very happy to be there to celebrate the hitching of such an excellent couple. =-)

This, of course, gave me the perfect excuse to get the iPod Camera Connector which, I have to say, is exactly what I hoped it would be. I took 337 photos that weekend and tonight I finally uploaded 145 of them to Flickr. The FlickrExport plugin for iPhoto did a decent job uploading them, but it did grind to a halt twice and had to be canceled and restarted from where it left off. Otherwise, a brilliant plugin.

The photo above is one of my favorites. =-)

Flux Capacitor Sold Separately

The DeLorean mentioned in this post here is now for sale. Eighteen large. It was on display out in front of my apartment building all weekend. I’m thinking about starting a DropCash fundraiser. Or maybe I could just get the owner to let me test drive it. All I really want to do is get it up to 88 mph on El Camino Real. Just to see if anything happens. I’ll try to snag a photo of it the next time it’s out there. =-)
